AVIATION BUR LAX - Multiple Projects

GLENDALE COMMUNITY COLLEGE - NEW SCIENCE BUILDING Working for the project Architect, HMC , we endeavored to create a permanent shoring wall that would relieve the earth pressure from the proposed new science building. The temporary retained heights allowed for the excavation of the new building's foundations, including its drilled piles. The necessity and the vision of the Architect for terracing up the hillside created some unique corner conditions. Close coordination with the building's Structural Engineer, Saiful Bouquet , many complex scenarios were worked through. The project was reviewed and approved by the DSA. The project was managed by Gafcon and the shoring was installed by Shoring Engineers .

LOS ANGELES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT Over the decades, Cefali & Associates has worked on many projects at LAX. Major projects include American Airlines Terminal 4, People Mover Bridges at Terminals 4.5 and 5.5, Delta's Skyway Terminal, Tom Bradley International Terminal, Central Utility Plant, baggage handling facilities and tunnels associated with the new Midfield Concourse. There are also numerous smaller scale engineering tasks associated with interim column support, underpinning, approach pits, building shoring, and micropiles associated with the larger support of excavation projects. We have been employed by many of the area's most prominent shoring contractors for these projects, including Malcolm Drilling , Calex Engineering , and Condon-Johnson . Our work on the Midfield Satellite Concourse and Baggage Optimization Program can be found in the April 10, 2017 edition of ENR .
